The libary team is working from home during the Government lockdown. This page has information about what library services and resources are available during this time. Email firstname.lastname@example.org if you have any questions. This page will continue to be updated as needed.
Education Library website
If you are logged into the Ministry, TEC, NZQA, ERO, or Teaching Council network, you shouldn’t notice any difference with using the library website and online resources (eg, databases, ebooks, journals).
If you access this website from outside these networks you will need to log in using your library username and password. You also need to log in the first time you access a licensed electronic resource, eg, a database.
If you know your username and the email address in our records, you can recover your password.
Ministry staff have been having some issues accessing the website using Internet Explorer. If that happens, we recommend you use Chrome.
Almost all our journal and magazine articles are online. Use the OneSearch box on the home page or the Journals A-Z quick link to access.
We can't supply copies of articles from print journals.
We may be able to source articles from other libraries for Ministry and education agency staff, but only if it is in support of high priority work.
You can still request books, but we can't issue or return books at the moment.
Please keep all books on loan to you until the lockdown ends. Due dates for all books issued this year have been changed to 22 May. We have suspended all automated due and overdue notices.
We issued books to some people on Friday 20 and Monday 23 March. We are aware these may not reach you in time. They should be waiting for you when you get back to your office. Contact us then and we'll extend your loan.
If you returned something to us just before the lockdown began, it should be waiting for us when we get back into our office. We'll check it in then.
Have a look at the find research and information pages for tips.
Working from home is a bit different for many of us. You may find the Leadership and Management Learning Centre useful. It includes articles, ebooks, and leadership videos on topics from communicating effectively to managing teams remotely.
Email updates and new issue alerts
We will keep sending out our government, politics, media, and education updates to Ministry and agency staff as they arrive - it isn't clear yet if they will all continue during the lockdown.
We will send out new issue alerts for journals and magazines but only for publications available online. We'll catch up with the print only publications after the lockdown.
If you haven't signed up yet, see keep up-to-date with research and the sector or for articles, see distribution lists for new issues of journals and magazines.
